This was my first Photoshoot in my new studio. I am hiring out a room that a person owns for practise rooms for musicians. The space is ample for what I need! Plenty of room for lighting, my backdrop and space to chill out.
I have known these lads for a while now and they were waiting in me to get this space sorted out. They wanted some promo shots done for their website and posters for their next tour. I knew sort of style they were going for. I already knew they wanted black and white but they were unsure on lighting. I like 45* degree lighting because of the shadow it's creates under the opposite cheekbone.
I am so happy with these shots, especially the standing alone ones.

Crown of Thornes Set
I shot these images for my first ever university project. I've never released them as a set, only as the final image.
The whole concept for these images were based around two main biblical stories, Adam and Eve, and Jesus nailed to the cross. The crown was to represent something bad that has happened and I wanted to change the perception of this 'bad thing' mad use it in a fashion shoot. The Adam and Eve side to it was the nakedness and free they were and to not have to worry about day to day stresses that most of us feel in the day and age. I wanted to create the illusions of the model not wearing clothes. To link back to the freedom, the posing is quite seductive and open, this exactly what I wanted to convey

Medium Format with Phase One Digital Back
When I first started university in September, one of my first lectures was on what was available to use in our photography store. There was everything you would expect from cameras to little tiny hot shoe adapters.
One thing caught my eye when I was read out the list of equipment. It was a phase one digital back. This has been the one thing I've been fascinated about when I first heard about this technology in college. Having the ability to turn a film camera, in this case it was a mamiya rz67, into a digital camera that you can have the shots instantly and still retaining the quality of the film lenses you have to offer.
As soon as our lecture was finished in our studios, I asked our technicians Alan and Christian to let me have a quick go of the system. They showed me how to connect the camera into capture one software and things I needed to remember about powering the digital back.
I asked my friend to stand In so I could take some photos on the system. I wanted to see what the depth of field was like. Even at f4 the depth of field was like f2 on a 35mm body. The bokeh was so soft. When I zoomed in the detail In the images was the best I have ever seen and still the best to this day.

Down By The Water
This is some old work I shot when I first got my canon 85mm 1.2. I had this image in my head of a girl down a stream with a nice dress on.
I wanted to shoot a girl with her hair flowing in the stream shot from above but it never happened. Instead I just shot a few pieces that I thought were nice.
I am still waiting for the hair in the stream shot to be done but I hope to have that shot soon because I really like working with this model and she definitely has the right look for it.

First Try At Food photography
I have never tried food photography before. I have seen and admired it but never cooked something lovely plated it up and photographed. So many people do it on social media like Instagram but I have never done it for Photoshoot. That may be a reason I've put it off for so long because of the excessive amount of food pictures that are the internet taken by cameras on phones.
This was for a university project and it was all to do with Great British food. This could be anything from Sunday roast to Victoria sponge cake. I love rustic food, a lot of roast meat and veg. It looks so appetising when it's all thrown into a tray, put in the oven and placed onto the dining table for everyone to tuck in.
I definitely wanted to shoot a joint of meat. For my first try I went with a red meat, specifically a rack of lamb. I love red meat cooked to about medium-rare and I thinks that's when it's most aesthetically pleasing with still abut of pink inside.
The concept was to show the food and too show something that was in the frame but on a wider view. So I was shooting on slate tile so I went to a slate mine and shot a whole stack of it so the colour tones would match in each photo. I think it works as a double page spread but I will try more options for a final.

Alex Butler Photoshoot
This was my first Photoshoot when I started this university course at Newcastle college. It was a few weeks In and I was approached by a band that I had heard through friends.
They wanted some new shots for their website and Facebook page.
It was a great shoot, the lads were amazing. Great banter and were up for anything.
I used the biggest soft box the uni had to offer, it's was about 150 x 100 rectangular soft box. This let me light the whole group and get they best soft light for my close ups.
